Why would you need to replace your rotor? Outside of a bent or damaged rotor from an accident, rotors do wear out over time. As you brake, the brake pads are grinding against the rotor, slowly shaving away some of the metal from the rotor. Rotors are engineered to be much harder and more durable than your pads; in most cases, you will have to replace a few sets of brake pads before having to replace rotors. Replace your rotor when the thickness of the rotor drops below 1.5mm.
