eBike Features

48 Volt electric system with pedal assist and throttle

City 1 is equipped with a 48 volt eBike system including battery, motor, controller, and display.

Choose from 5 levels of pedal assist at up to 28 MPH while pedaling, or use the throttle to travel up to 20 MPH without pedaling.

Powerful 500 Watt hub motor

500 Watt hub motor with plenty of torque to make climbing hills a snap.

High-capacity battery for more range

We've included a big, 652.8Wh battery with premium LG cells so you can go further between charges.

When you're done, the battery can be charged both on and off the bike, using the included 3A fast charger in just 3-4 hours - 50% faster than many competing eBikes.

Easy to read LCD display

High-resolution digital dashboard shows your speed, trip distance, time, battery charge level, pedal assist level, and more at a glance. It's even got a backlight for night riding.

Class III ebike, customizable for your needs

City Model 1 ships in Class III eBike configuration (up to 28 MPH on pedal assist, up to 20 MPH on throttle) and can easily be adjusted using the built-in settings on the display.

The speed limiter can be set from 11-28 MPH to help you meet local trail access rules and requirements, or to accommodate riders who simply prefer lower speeds.

Real-world range testing

Denago is committed to honest, real-world range estimates. You won't find "your mileage may vary" estimates here - we tested our eBikes under real riders on real terrain. Share your own results with #Denago.

Most riders will experience more than 20 miles of range using throttle exclusively and 40 miles or more on pedal assist.

Our 250 pound test rider, using throttle only, traveled 23 miles on a single charge, with outdoor temperature of 38°F, including more than 20 stops and starts along the route.

Learn more about range testing.

5 levels of pedal assist

City Model 1 features 5 selectable levels of pedal assist (PAS), so you can choose the right speed for your needs.

PAS 0: no motor assist
PAS 1: 15 MPH
PAS 2: 17.5 MPH
PAS 3: 20.5 MPH
PAS 4: 23 MPH
PAS 5: 27 MPH
Throttle only: 20 MPH

Speeds will vary slightly depending on terrain, headwinds, rider weight, and battery charge level.

Shimano 7 speed drivetrain

City 1 is easy to ride with a 7 speed drivetrain from Shimano. The thumb shifter shows you what gear you're using at a glance, and each shift clicks right into place - no complicated drivetrain to figure out.

Safety features

Includes Kenda puncture-resistant tires and powerful hydraulic disc brakes for safer and easy stopping, even in wet weather. A convenient kickstand makes parking a snap.

EBike-rated tires with puncture resistance

Flat tires are no fun, so we used Kenda's Kwick Seven-5 Sport tires with K-Shield to minimize punctures. They're eBike-rated to handle higher speeds, and use a reflective sidewall for increased safety when riding at night.

Comfortable riding

Ultra-low standover height makes starting and stopping a snap. You can easily keep your feet flat on the ground when stopped. There's a padded, wide saddle, and the stem features an adjustable angle so the handlebar can be raised and lowered.

It's easy to share your ebike with family and friends, City 1 uses a quick-release clamp to adjust the saddle height for different riders, without tools.

Carry more by adding a rear rack

Built-in mounting points for an optional rear rack allow you to carry lunch, groceries, a change of clothes, or even a spare battery for extended exploring.

Assembly tools included

City Model 1 includes a wrench for the pedals and axle nuts, plus a handy multi-tool with hex keys and screwdrivers.

Everything you need to assemble your new Denago at home, and perfect for on-the-road adjustments.

Powerful hydraulic disc brakes

We've included Zoom hydraulic disc brakes with oversize rotors to reduce stopping distance, even in the wet.

My NEW lifestyle

My first week of a new lifestyle! 165 miles and loving my nee Denago. Got my bike a Tuckahoe Bike Shop in NJ

Please with early access

As a employee, I had an opportunity to test ride this bike before the launch of the new website. During this time I was able to ride quite a bit myself and also had the chance to let my neighborhood try it out as well, so I wanted to share some of those comments. One of my favorite things about this new bike is the throttle operation. I was able to use it to get to several meetings around town without arriving all sweaty, which was great. The quick-release seatpost means you can quickly adjust the size on the fly and share the bike within your family or friends. My 5'3" neighbor and I (5'11") were able to ride the same model. There is also an adjustable angle stem. My wife prefers to sit more upright than I do, and this feature allows us to quickly adjust the handlebar height back and forth. I live in a pretty hilly area and was impressed by the ability to climb hills on both pedal assist and throttle modes. On throttle only (without pedaling at all) I could hold 20 MPH on 5% grades - I'm 150 lbs, for reference. On pedal assist I could climb even steeper hills at 20 MPH+ when I wanted while I pedaled with assistance from the motor. Overall it's a great way to get into riding.

Fun on the Swamp Rabbit trail

I got a chance to be one of the first to try out the NEW DENAGO ebike and it was amazing. I live in the Greenville, SC area and very close to the SWAMP RABBIT multi use trail. My first ride was on the trail with a number of fun stops- Coffee, the Falls, and the Zoo. I took the trail out and back and covered over 30+miles. The use of full throttle was easy and it was a blast passing others and getting from one location to the other. I also familiarized myself with the different PAS levels and found the sweet spot for my fitness and cycling level at PAS 4. The ability to go and maintain 18+MPH was extremely enjoyable. The fun of getting out and enjoy the early spring weather while truly transporting myself from one part of town to the other was truly enjoyable. Since this ride I have been able to convert many of my quick trips that I would use my car and am now using my Denago- quick runs to the grocery store, to meet friends for coffee or a beer, getting to the gym, and also balancing a fitness plan of wanting to improve my cycling fitness but not beating myself up on the hills! I would highly encourage anyone to get out and ENJOY the RIDE!
